A food detox isn’t about starving yourself and drinking nothing but lemon and maple syrup water for a week straight. You can still eat, but you should re-think what you eat and the ingredients in those foods. Soup is an excellent choice for lunch or dinner, and can help you get lots of vitamins and minerals in the process. Here are some different detox soups you can try out.

Make One of These Detox Soups

Chicken Soup

Believe it or not, chicken soup or chicken noodle soup can be really great for a food detox. The trick here is to make it homemade, and skip the noodles or use another healthier version. You might not want a lot of refined carbs when doing a detox, so you can replace the noodles with something whole grain or just add lots of veggies instead. Making your own chicken soup is easy by starting with low-sodium chicken broth, then adding in cooked chicken and veggies like carrots, onions, celery, broccoli, and peas. Add in some apple cider vinegar, olive oil, ginger, and other seasonings.

Veggie Turmeric Soup

Two things that are really good when you are on a food detox are turmeric and vegetables, so it makes sense that you would combine them for a delicious and filling soup! The great thing about this type of soup is that the main base is vegetables, so you can really get creative and add the ones you enjoy the most. Just remember some veggies that are also superfoods, since they will be best for your detox. This includes veggies like kale, broccoli, and cauliflower. Some other veggies you might like are tomatoes, onions, carrots, and celery. Add in your turmeric and some other seasonings, then cook it with some vegetable broth.

Super-foods Soup

Another way to have a detox soup is to simply make a soup that includes a lot of different super foods all in one dish. Like the vegetable and chicken soups, you are just going to choose any super food you have on hand or are interested in, and throw it into the soup. This also happens to be a great way to use up some of your leftover produce and herbs, if you can’t think about what else to do with them. When using chicken broth or vegetable broth, try to go with the low-sodium version. Add some protein in beans and lentil, then go with all your veggies like onions, carrots, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, and any others you enjoy. Add some olive oil, herbs, and seasonings, and let it cook.
