During the holiday season, one of the most treasured traditions is to not only give gifts to your loved ones, but to make those gifts. You can sue essential oils not only to make, but simple ones that don’t require a lot of time. Here are some simple gift ideas that use essential oils.

Lotion or Foot Cream

The simplest way to make a gift that uses essential oils is to start with a product that is already made. This allows you to personalize it and make it appropriate for the holiday season, but without doing too much work. For example, get a lotion or foot cream with no or minimal scent, and add some essential oils to it. You can go simple with vanilla or peppermint, or put some scents together into your own blend. Who doesn’t want to use their favorite hand cream that now smells like a candy cane or winter forest?

Scented Christmas Ornaments

There are also a few different varieties of scented Christmas ornaments that you can make. The first, and possibly easiest, you can make is a clay ornament. This allows you to really control the shape, design, and size of the ornament, while also adding in your scent. What you want to do is while your clay is still wet and before molding it, add in your oils. Since you will be touching the clay directly with your hands, either dilute the oils with a carrier oil first, or use a spray bottle with distilled water and essential oils and spray into the clay. You can then mold it into your ornament, bake it, and it will smell like the oils you used.

Homemade Coffee Scrub

If you want to give a friend something that helps to pamper them for the holidays, a coffee scrub is a great option. This is really easy to make, can be a lot of fun, and as an added bonus, your home will smell amazing while making it! Plus, it is easy to make large batches and put them in smaller mason jars to give out to more than one person during the holidays. For a coffee scrub, all you need is freshly-ground coffee, brown sugar, essential oils, and carrier oils. Just combine the mixture well and keep in jars or containers with airtight lids.

Gel Air Freshener

You might know how to make other homemade air freshener, but have you thought about a gel air freshener? This can easily use any essential oils, from vanilla and cinnamon to special holiday blends. The gel in the air freshener is done with polymer absorbent crystals, which can be added to a container with water and the oils.
