Aromatherapy involves using essential oils from herbs, flowers, and stems of trees that provide amazing scents and healing powers at the same time. By inhaling the aroma of these oils, you are able to stimulate brain function, relax your body and mind, and benefit in a number of ways. Here are some ways to use seasonal scents and blends for aromatherapy.

Peppermint

In terms of what scents you can use for aromatherapy, there are a wide range of ones to choose from. For seasonal scents in the holidays and winter season, it doesn’t get much better than peppermint. This not only works for those scents that smell like candy canes and peppermint treats, but it can be combined with certain spices and woody scents to create an entire holiday experience. Plus, peppermint has a wide range of health benefits when used with aromatherapy, from helping you sleep to providing more energy.

Woody Scents

When you want to try aromatherapy with essential oils, but also have them more seasonal, then you should also look to the woody scents. These are going to smell just like you are walking through a forest in the winter or a Christmas tree farm. There are quite a few different woody scents available, including fir, cypress, cedarwood, and sandalwood. You can use these woody scents alone, blend with spicy or fruity scents, or get them already in seasonal blends.

Spicy Scents

Another aroma family that contains a lot of amazing scents for seasonal aromatherapy is your spicy aroma family. These scents smell just like herb spices you might use for seasonal cooking. For the holidays, try cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. These can be added to other scents to create your own seasonal blend, or you can use them individually if you just really enjoy the spices on their own.

Ylang Ylang

While this might not seem like a seasonal scent, it actually has a great place with your seasonal aromatherapy. Ylang ylang is one of the oldest medicinal essential oils, which is a type of floral aroma. It is extracted through a steam distillation process from tropical trees. The oil smells fragrant like flowers, but it is also great to combine with other seasonal scents, including woody and earthy scents. It helps with a wide range of things, including skin conditions, hair growth, and high blood pressure.
