If you are in search of simple, DIY gifts to give out during the holidays that also incorporate essential oils, the drawer sachets are an excellent choice. These drawer sachets are very easy to make, with some variations requiring no sewing whatsoever.

Use Fabric Pouches and String

Here is another way to soak cotton balls in the essential oils and create drawer sachets with them. This time, instead of putting the cotton balls into muslin bags or similar pouches, you are going to create simple fabric pouches. All you need to do for this is cut squares out of any fabric you want to use, going for more breathable fabric if you can.

Place the pre-soaked cotton balls on the inside of the fabric squares, gather the fabric together, and tie it with a string. This not only works great as a no-sew alternative, but you can easily open them to replace the cotton balls with new ones as often as needed.

Sew Fabric Pouches

The final option for your homemade drawer sachets that use essential oils is to sew them up. This is better for the sachets you don’t want to keep filling with newly-scented cotton balls, but instead you want to have them last. Sewing them up gives them a nice professional look, while the recipient doesn’t have to worry about anything falling out. All you really need to do is cut two pieces of square fabric in the same size, and sew up 2 sides of the fabric together. You can then fill the pouch you have made with your scented cotton balls or other scented material, then sew up the other 2 sides of the pouch to close it up.

Cotton Balls in Muslin Bags

When you want to make drawer sachets that require no sewing and can be made in a matter of minutes, this is probably the easiest option. All you need are some muslin bags or any drawstring bags that have holes in them for ventilation. Smaller bags work best, but the size really doesn’t matter. All you need to do is put some cotton balls in a bowl or jar and add your chosen essential oils to soak them. Let them sit for several minutes as they absorb the scent of the oils. Transfer the cotton balls to the little drawstring bags and close them up. That’s all you need to do.
