Finding Love Over 50

Are you ready for finding love over 50? It can be a challenge, can’t it? The world just doesn’t work the way it used to, so how are you supposed to meet that special someone? There’s a good chance that you’re just not where you need to be to meet someone – how can you be found if you’re sitting at home, hiding away every night.

Okay, so you finish a long day at work and all you want to do is slip into your jammies and kick back with a good book or unwind in front of the television while you cuddle up with your pet on the couch.

You will definitely never meet a special person if you repeat this habit on the daily. It’s time to open yourself up to the possibility of finding love, whether you do it online or in person. How will anyone know you’re available if they can’t find you?

Be Comfortable With You

Before you can find someone special you need to be comfortable with who you are. How can you find someone to love you if you barely love yourself? It’s easier for people to love you when you love yourself. That doesn’t mean you need to be arrogant or over-confident, you just need to learn to accept yourself, flaws and all.

Learn From Your Mistakes

If you’ve been through a divorce, then it may be difficult for you to move on and start fresh with someone new. You’re likely to carry some of the anger and hurt from your previous relationship(s) into the new relationship and jump to conclusions about the new person in your life.

You weren’t blameless in the breakdown of your relationship, though, so if you know that you were a bit too critical, snappy, selfish or unlikely to compromise – learn from those mistakes as you move forward.

Date For The Sake Of Dating

You probably won’t meet that special person right away – the chances of them being the first person you go on a date with is slim. So, don’t get too caught up in finding that person right away, enjoy dating just for the sake of dating. You never know who you will meet, you may find someone who you can build a great friendship with and ease some of the loneliness you may be experiencing.

The Art Of Flirting

Flirting is fun and it’s always nice when you find someone, not just to flirt with, who flirts back. Try flirting with someone you like, whether it’s online, at the coffee shop or even at the grocery store. Start by being confident enough to maintain eye contact (don’t linger too long lest you appear creepy). If you’re on a date then try touching the persons arm lightly or brushing against them in close quarters.

Be Who You Are & Who You Want To Be

Don’t force yourself to do things that you really don’t like doing – if you love football, then be open about your love of football – but, if you don’t like it, don’t pretend to. You’ll set yourself up for years of activities that you hate.

Just don’t be afraid to let your prospective partner know what really interests you and find out what they enjoy doing, too. You don’t always have to love the same things – you can still hang out with other people, too.

Where To Meet People

Of course, we’ve mentioned the internet – there are plenty of people in this age bracket who use dating apps and sites to find love. If you’re not comfortable with that you should join classes, activities, and workshops that interest you. You will meet people who share your interests and increase your chances of meeting someone who you have a lot in common with.
