Scented shaving cream is a great gift to give out during the holidays, especially when you make it yourself. You can create healthy shaving cream that is scented with different holiday scents or blends, appropriate for both men and women. Here are some tips for making do-it-yourself DIY essential oil Shaving cream.

Choose Your Scent

Before you start making the scented shaving cream, you should first decide on the scents you want to use. Remember you can use individual scents or go with your own blends. There are also a lot of pre-made blends that can work great. For example, if you want it to smell seasonal, you can go with spices like nutmeg or cinnamon, vanilla, and orange. You can use a seasonal or Christmas blend, or you can go with more masculine scents like evergreen, Frankincense, and myrrh. There are so many directions to go here.

Gather Your Ingredients

Once you have decided on the scent you want to use for the shaving cream, you can then gather your ingredients. For a homemade shaving cream, you of course want to start with your essential oils. These should be combined with a carrier oil, with coconut being the best option. It not only works as a carrier oil to protect your skin from the essential oils, but it is great for your skin. Aside from that, use a little olive oil and some shea butter. What you are going to do is combine these ingredients, then whip them up into a shaving cream consistency. But first, you need to get all the ingredients together!

Make Your Scented Shaving Cream

By this point, you are finally ready to start making the shaving cream. Since you are using both shea butter and coconut oil, you need to melt it in order to get it to combine properly. Put pieces of shea butter into a double broiler, along with your coconut oil, and turn on the stove. Let the mixture melt until it is completely liquid, then add in your olive oil or other type of carrier oil you intend to use. Turn off the heat immediately, and pour the mixture into a bowl. Once there, you can add in your essential oils, then start whipping it with a hand mixer or dot his ins a mixer bowl. Just keep mixing until it has soft peaks, similar to whipped cream.
