7 Steps to Diagnose Chronic Pain Disease
Have you been Mis-Diagnosed?
Chronic Disease:
It Is Not so easy to Diagnose. There are 100s of
Symptoms and Causes – Wading through the Evidence
1) You know something is wrong. You are tired far too often, and the pain you feel is constant. Your body temperature is off-kilter as well. Is it the result of depression, or is the depression another symptom of some physical problem?
Chronic diseases are rampant these days, with little acknowledgment of their debilitating effects. Chronic fatigue affects many, and pain is more commonplace. Then there is the sign of depression – is it the cause of our troubles, or just another symptom of something more deeply rooted?
Depressing, isn’t it? You feel fatigued and ache all over. These symptoms are difficult to diagnose with any form of measurement and can be blamed on depression. Is it all in your head, or is there some other cause for your issues?
2) Diagnosing conditions and finding the proper treatment is not always easy. Many ailments have similar symptoms. Tests may show a rise in the body response to an infection, but cannot pinpoint the exact cause.
It is difficult to diagnose many chronic conditions. The symptoms cannot be measured, and tests do not exist that show the specific cause. Many tests will point in the right direction, showing a rise in the natural infection-fighting response, but cannot tell us why.
It’s not always the easiest task to properly diagnose a chronic condition. Many are diagnosed based on the collection of symptoms, like fibromyalgia, and through a process of elimination.
3) It seems logical that when properly diagnosed that an appropriate course of treatment will be given. In this perfect world scenario, we also would find these disabling conditions magically cured. Welcome to the real world.
You would think that with the knowledge base available, and the advanced testing capabilities that our medical community could more easily diagnose and treat these conditions that plague our population. It would seem, too, that we should have more effective treatments that actually treat the basic (or root) cause.
With all the advances we have made in our medical and research communities it seems that there should be tests and treatments that can help or cure chronic conditions. Is this wishful thinking? Yes, but realistic, too. The fact is that chronic conditions are difficult to trace.
4) There are many conditions with similar symptoms, and with some of these conditions, such as MS, or multiple sclerosis, the cause is not clear. How can you effectively treat a condition when you cannot identify its root cause?
We don’t always know the cause of our health issues. Many immune disorders present with similar symptoms. MS, for example, can be diagnosed by ruling out other conditions and seeing the progression of the disease. The cause of MS is still unknown. Treatment is still in the management and not the cure of this autoimmune condition.
Since so many of the autoimmune conditions we face these days have similar symptoms there is often a trial and error diagnosing process, eliminating possible causes. MS, for example, is difficult to diagnose and is often seen in the progression of symptoms. There is no clear answer as to the cause of MS. Treatment is also variable, and usually manages the symptoms instead of improving the state of health.
5) Other autoimmune diseases present themselves with similar symptoms and are often diagnosed through the elimination of other possible conditions rather than proof of the final diagnosis. These ailments include fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, lupus, and other autoimmune or neurodegenerative diseases. Even rheumatoid arthritis falls in this classification.
In addition to MS, there are other autoimmune conditions or syndromes that share the same tired, aching and depressing symptoms. Each is found through the elimination process, much like MS. We’ve heard the names – fibromyalgia, lupus, chronic fatigue, and even rheumatoid arthritis.
Rheumatoid arthritis is another of the autoimmune conditions that falls in the classification of chronic disease. Additional autoimmune conditions include chronic fatigue, lupus, and fibromyalgia. All are diagnosed through a process of elimination rather than definitive proof.
6) Lyme disease is another of those multi-symptom diseases that share symptoms with other autoimmune disorders. Lyme is known to be caused by a spirochete shaped bacteria of the borrelia bacteria family, which is commonly transmitted by ticks, and it may be more common than we think.
The list of chronic health issues is not complete without adding Lyme disease to the list. This parasitic condition is originally caused by tick-transmitted borrelia bacteria, as well as person-to-person contact. Many do not even know they have been infected because they were never bitten by a tick but get Lyme Disease from someone or a pet that may have been bitten. Medical diagnosis is difficult, and antibiotic treatment may not be effective because there are numerous different bacteria and viruses involved.
Another player has joined the chronic illness field. Lyme disease may seem to be remote, but is quickly spreading. This condition is traced back to the transmittal of Borrelia bacteria through a tick bite. Many do not believe that they can contract Lyme disease because they do not remember being bit by a tick. What is not disclosed is that any person with Lyme Disease can infect another person, through contact, a sneeze, sex, sharing fluids, etc. Warning: Diagnosis is difficult when this autoimmune disease is not even considered in the diagnosis process.
7) Diagnosing disease and its actual cause is a difficult job. Many are given the typical and over-prescribed course of antibiotics, but this treatment does not appear to be effective enough to reliably eradicate these debilitating diseases. Many turn to less conventional treatments in hopes of finding a cure.
It is admitted that the diagnosis of chronic pain and fatigue-related conditions is difficult. Even with an accurate diagnosis, the treatment is not always effective. Over the years the commonly used and overprescribed antibiotics have led to resistance, making treatment more difficult. It has become more widely accepted to turn to the more unconventional alternative treatments to find solutions. Alternative solutions to pain and disease have been used for 1000s of years; there is value in investigating these remedies.
Now we know the challenges that are faced in diagnosing chronic autoimmune disorders. Once the diagnosis is decided the treatment may not be clear. Our traditional treatment using antibiotics has been widely overused, and now we face resistant pathogens that must be destroyed by a full spectrum pathogen eliminator.
In 1999 the American Society of Analytical Chemist stated that chlorine dioxide (also known as a water purification solution) is the most powerful pathogen killer known to man. Some suffers have found it effective using 1 to 3 drops per hour. This is the full spectrum pathogen eliminator.
