Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few years, you have probably heard of turmeric. This orange spice not only tastes great as a tea and in various foods, but it is loaded with important nutrients and antioxidants. If you are brand new to using it, the following tips will help you to learn how you can use it every day.

How to Use Turmeric Daily

Make Turmeric Tea

This is probably the most popular way to use turmeric, and often the easiest. All you need to do is drink one cup of tea each day that includes some ground or grated turmeric. You can do the grating yourself, or get it in finely-ground form from your local health food store or farmer’s market. As with all spices, just make sure it doesn’t contain a lot of added ingredients. For turmeric tea, you can start with a regular cup of tea and add the turmeric into it, or make it with nothing but boiling water and ground turmeric. Some ways to flavor it include with lemon or honey.

Flavor Roasted Vegetables

A great way to use turmeric more often is to use it to season your vegetables. Roasting veggies is super easy, requiring you to just season them on a pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes in a 400-degree oven. This allows you to meal prep by roasting lots of veggies at one time. If you want to use turmeric, first sprinkle some olive oil the veggies so the turmeric can stick. Next, sprinkle on your turmeric, and toss the vegetables to coat seasonings evenly. You can also add other seasonings at this point. Roast the veggies, and they’re ready to go.

Add Turmeric to Your Smoothies

If you don’t like the taste of turmeric, which does have a bit of a kick, an easy way to use it daily is just to add it to your smoothies. This allows you to get the health benefits of turmeric, without changing the flavor of your smoothie too much. As long as you have plenty of sweet fruits in the smoothie, you won’t taste the turmeric except for the slight bite it gives it. Try different fruit and vegetable combinations with the turmeric in your smoothie, and you will be amazed by how delicious they can be.

Turmeric is also great going in soup and chili, bringing color to rice and other grains,
and making your very own curry powder combination.
