How to Make a Gingerbread Essential Oil Blend

How to Make a Gingerbread Essential Oil Blend

There are many seasonal essential oil blends you can make during the holidays, from blends that smell like Christmas trees, to ones that remind you of roasting marshmallows over a fire in a log cabin. Another popular smell during this time of year is the smell of gingerbread cookies. You can turn this smell into an essential oil blend with just a few simple variations.

Clove, Orange, Nutmeg, and Cinnamon Bark

There are quite a few different blends that will make it smell just like freshly-baked gingerbread cookies, starting with this mix of four popular scents. You will likely see different variations of this combination since it truly smells just like gingerbread cookies. It uses cinnamon bark and nutmeg, two popular scents for gingerbread, plus a little clove for added spice, and orange to give it that fresh smell perfect for the holiday season.

Ginger, Cassia, and Clove

Another simple combination uses even less of your essential oils. You start with the clove essential oil once more, which gives you that spice you need for anything that is going to smell like baked treats for the holiday season. For gingerbread, you naturally want to have the ginger oil as well. You can then add in a third optional oil, such as cassia. This provides a nice subtle spice that really brings out that freshly-baked gingerbread scent.

Cardamom and Holiday Blend

If you don’t want to make the gingerbread oil blend from scratch, you don’t have to! You can either use a blend that already smells like gingerbread cookies, or if you have another holiday blend, combine it with cinnamon or cardamom. These spices are subtle and simply bring out the seasonal scents already used in a standard Christmas essential oil blend. It is easy to add a few drops of cardamom to a current holiday blend, whether it uses ginger and clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, or a little sweet orange. This allows you to customize current blends to make them your own.

Cinnamon and Ginger

This is definitely more of a subtle essential oil blend when you want it to smell like gingerbread cookies. The ginger is going to give it that gingerbread cookie scent, while the cinnamon is the perfect spice to use alongside it. This won’t be a complex scent, but a light aroma that smells like you have been busy baking Christmas cookies.
